Skillcape Software LLC was contacted by a national chemical adhesives supplier to replace their primary administrative application responsible for much of their day to day operational management. Over time, the application architecture was downgraded to legacy, then unsupported as it reached end of life. In order to keep the application functional, an internal server was purchased and set up with a legacy version of Windows to keep the application accessible.
While this didn't prevent the application from performing as needed, it increased the risk of negatively impacting internal operations should the internally hosted application ever fail irrecoverably. To future proof their operations, our client sought to replace their legacy software with a web-hosted admin portal.
As an agile development firm, we prefer to work in short increments closely with our clients. This project, however, required a much more far-reaching vision in order to set up future integrations with our client's CRM, ERP, and various reporting needs. Data and system architecture decisions made in Phase 1 needed to support unknowns in future phases of integration work.
We developed an internally facing Admin Portal using our preferred Microsoft stack with Blazor WASM & Dot Net Core Web API, hosted on Microsoft Azure. This ensured the application would meet or exceed internally hosted software uptime while providing flexibility to leverage Azure's Cloud Functions for future integration operations.
As a result of this project, our client leverages a flexible integration strategy with all of their necessary tools and platforms. These streamlined service connections keep human error to a minimum in addition to future proofing their internal operations software.
